Summary: The integration of early supported discharge (ESD, congé précoce assisté-CPA) into the trajectory of stroke services in Quebec requires a fundamental reflection about interventions to be offered within this program, in particular those regarding treatment of aphasia. Up to now, existing knowledge synthesis do not inform us about the type of intervention to be preferred in speech therapy during the first days/weeks following a stroke. It is precisely in this context that the Directorate of Rehabilitation and Multidisciplinary Services of the CIUSSS Centre-Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal mandated the UETMI of the CIUSSS Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal to answer the following question: What are the best practices in speech therapy for the treatment of aphasia during the first month post-stroke?
