Bio

Dr Nemargut, an assistant professor at the School of Optometry at the Université de Montréal, conduct research focussing on assistive devices for individuals living with visual impairments, such as 3D printed tactile maps, mobile applications, and robotics. He has worked extensively with industry partners, rehabilitation specialists, and community organizations.

Safiata Kaboré, a doctoral student in Vision Sciences at Université de Montréal, focuses on global health, inclusive technologies, and equity through IDEAL principles. With 29 years of global health experience and participation in entrepreneurship programs, she bridges research, innovation, and social impact. She actively promotes diversity and accessibility through roles in scientific associations and digital health committees.

Prajjol Raj Puri is a Vision Science graduate student at the Université de Montréal, with clinical training in optometry and research experience in low vision rehabilitation, AI-based assistive devices, and orientation and mobility. He has worked as a clinical optometrist in Nepal and the Maldives and has authored peer-reviewed publications in vision science. He is currently leading student initiatives as President of the AÉCSÉO.

Deborah Annan is a graduate student in Vision Science at the University of Montreal. Her research endeavors focus on navigation assistive technology for individuals with visual impairment. With a clinical background in Optometry and a passion for accessibility, Deborah’s work bridges clinical practice and user centered approaches to promote independence and inclusion for visually impaired individuals. Her career is dedicated to advancing inclusive innovation that promote equity and independence for people with visual impairments.
